Day To Night Look: Thigh Slit Maxi Skirt!

Being able to re-use items in my wardrobe and styling them different ways is always a key factor for anything I ever purchase! I like to edge up basics, pair more glamorous pieces with something casual and sometimes completely transform my style, just because I feel like it :)

One thing I've always found challenging though is transitioning an outfit from day to night. However, it is actually quite easy to do so if you experiment a bit and keep a few little tips and tricks in mind! When I got this super cute maxi skirt from ASOS with that stunning thigh-high slit, I knew I wanted to challenge myself to style it up AND down to make it wearable for any occasion.

So, here is what I did :)

Day Look:

I actually found styling this skirt for a more casual day-time outfit super easy! I started off by balancing out the figure hugging silhouette of the skirt with a flowy, oversized T-shirt - this one is only $5 by H&M! What do you think of the soft pink and red combo?? I am surprisingly obsessed with this color pairing and even deemed it the "best color combo that is not supposed to be a color combo" on my Instagram, haha!

Now, lets be real here: it would not be a true 'Janine outfit' if I would not be able to find a way to incorporate my beloved chunky white sneakers, am I right?! I am still absolutely in love with these sneakers I picked up from H&M - they are super comfy (like walking on clouds really), go with everything AND make your legs look longer and more toned! ;)

Accessories are key when transforming statement pieces from day to night! In addition to the sneakers, I added some oversized cat-eye sunglasses, which I in fact pair with absolutely anything and everything, haha! I even tried a belt bag with the look and I actually think it looks quite cool! Then again, this photo reminded me, why I never ever wear belt bags... It's just not really my thing! What do you guys think?

Night Look:

Surprisingly I had a little bit more of a harder time to dress this skirt up for an evening look, even though that was the purpose I intended it for when adding it to my basket - mainly because, well, there hasn't been many occasion for a full blown going out look the past few months, haha! #lockdownlife I ended up pairing it with this off the shoulder blouse that I got from ASOS as well and really liked the look together!

Accessorizing this outfit then was quite easy! I threw on my favorite (and comfiest!) pair of black heels and a simple black clutch, which also comes with a shoulder strap - a must for any going out bag for me!

Hair and makeup can really make a look evening appropriate! I put on a stunning red lipstick to play up the tone of the skirt and added some gold jewelry to amp up the glam factor. When I actually wear this look out in the future I might also add some glamorous curls or do something at all with my hair for that matter. :D

Here's how I would style this amazing maxi skirt from day to night! How do you think did I do??
Which one of the two outfits is your fav?
